The language of the brickwork flows throughout the design of the side extension and repeats to the garden design. By lowering the boundary wall we are able to achieve a ribbon effect which volumes wrap around each other and the existing building. To enhance and respect the biodiversity of the area we propose a green roof.
The proposal intends to increase the living space by the addition of a modest and subordinate side extension at the lower ground floor level of the home. Internally, we aim to create a modern kitchen, dining, and living space that has sufficient storage for its new and future occupants.
Consideration for: materials, form, and order within the design helped inform decisions which we believe will create a discrete proposal while achieving the desired increased accommodation for the home. In the position of the existing kitchen we designed an additional bedroom while the living room, dining area and kitchen will be combined in an open plan space with a view to the newly designed garden.
